About CDS
The Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) is a University of Sydney-affiliated not-for-profit at the forefront of disability research, assessment and policy in Australia.
We develop and own the I-CAN v6, Australia's leading support needs assessment tool and partner to deliver nationally significant programs that directly shape how people with disability receive support.
The opportunity
We're looking for an experienced clinician to join our Clinical team as Manager, Clinical Projects - a pivotal role at the intersection of clinical expertise, program delivery and quality assurance.
This is not a clinical service delivery role.
Instead, you'll be the clinical engine behind our projects, leading the delivery of major nationally significant clinical projects, ensuring quality and consistency across our assessment and accreditation functions, and providing the clinical expertise and guidance our team needs to do their best work.
You'll work closely with our Director, Clinical Programs and Partnerships, and have real scope to shape how CDS's clinical programs evolve over the next 12 months and beyond.
What you'll be doing
I-CAN v6 Tool Stewardship -You'll become the go-to clinical expert on the I-CAN v6, overseeing our training and accreditation program, contributing to tool development and refinement, and providing authoritative guidance to assessors, contractors and program partners on how to apply it well.
Clinical Project Delivery- You'll play a lead role in the delivery of major clinical projects, including developing clinical guidance and resources, contributing to reporting, and supporting the implementation of nationally significant programs.




Clinical Advice and Team Capability -You'll be the clinical anchor for our project team, providing day-to-day guidance on best practice in disability service delivery, person-centred care, trauma-informed practice and rights-based approaches.
What we're looking for
Clinical health qualification (OT, social work, psychology, nursing or similar) with current AHPRA registration where applicable
Minimum 5 years experience working with people with disability, including hands-on experience with support needs, care or functional assessments (NDIS, aged care, I-CAN or similar)
Sound knowledge of best practice disability service delivery, person-centred care, trauma-informed practice and rights-based approaches
Experience reviewing clinical assessments or reports and providing structured written feedback
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a small team
Genuine interest in stepping beyond direct clinical practice into a role that shapes how support needs assessment tools and programs work at a systems level
I-CAN v6 accreditation or familiarity with the ICF framework
Experience with NDIA, Department of Health or other funded disability programs
Background in assessor training, accreditation or clinical education
