We are seeking a caring, reliable and motivatedSupport Workerto join a small, dedicated team supporting an adult with aphysical disability and high care needswho lives independently in their own home.
This is a rewarding position for someone who enjoys building positive working relationships while helping another person maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life.
About the Role
As aSupport Worker, you will provide a combination of personal care, domestic assistance and practical day-to-day support.
Every day is different, and your work will have a direct impact on the client's ability to live independently within the community in their own home.
Key Responsibilities
Providing respectful, high-quality personal care.
Assisting with transfers and mobility (training and equipment provided where required).
Preparing meals and assisting with feeding if required.
Medication preparation and administration.
Housekeeping, including cleaning, laundry and maintaining a safe home environment.
Grocery shopping and collecting prescriptions.
Assisting with appointments and community access.
Monitoring the client's wellbeing and reporting any concerns.
Working collaboratively with other members of the support team.
Completing accurate daily records and documentation.
Undertaking any other reasonable tasks or requests that the client is unable to perform due to their disability.
About You
You are someone who:
Is compassionate, patient, respectful and trustworthy.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Is dependable,
organised and able to work independently.
Takes initiative while respecting the client's choices and independence.
Is physically capable of undertaking manual handling tasks.
Understands the importance of confidentiality, professionalism and maintaining personal boundaries.
Is happy assisting the client directly, understanding and following requests.
Experience supporting people with physical disabilities or high care needs.
NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain one).
Current National Police Check QLD.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Reliable motor vehicle.
Right to work in Australia.
Previous experience with Spinal Cord Injuries and associated complications.
Knowledge of Autonomic Dysreflexia and equipment used to monitor blood pressure.
Basic experience with catheter management, SPC maintenance and bowel therapy care.
Experience using mobility equipment and hoists, with basic wheelchair operation skills.
Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care or a related qualification.
Genuine interest in supporting an individual, making a meaningful difference in their lives with the skills and experience you bring.
