Sven's Plumbing and Gas is seeking a
Mature Age Apprentice
to join our team in Hawthorn, VIC ****. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to launch a new career in the skilled trades. As a mature age apprentice, you will undertake structured training in plumbing and gas fitting whilst gaining practical, hands‐on experience working alongside experienced professionals. This role is ideal for career changers or those returning to the workforce who are ready to develop expertise in a rewarding and in‐demand trade.
What you'll be doing
Assisting qualified plumbers and gas fitters on residential projects
Learning and practising fundamental plumbing techniques, including pipework installation, repairs and maintenance
Supporting gas fitting work under supervision, including safety protocols and compliance procedures
Carrying out site preparation, material handling and general labouring duties
Maintaining tools and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency on job site
Developing customer service skills and understanding the importance of qualified conduct
Following health and safety procedures and contributing to a secure working environment
What we're looking for
A mature attitude, reliability and commitment to completing a full apprenticeship
Physical fitness and the ability to work in various environments and conditions
A willingness to learn and the ability to follow instructions from experienced tradespeople
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
A genuine interest in the plumbing and gas fitting trades




A current driver's licence
The ability to obtain or willingness to obtain relevant licences and certifications as required by the apprenticeship
Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Previous work experience in a skilled trade or vocational background is advantageous but not essential
A police check and drivers licence check is required as part of our on boarding process. We require a clear criminal history
