Role Summary
As a Senior Electrical Engineer - Projects, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the technical integrity of our EPC wind farm projects. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with project scope, specifications, schedule and budget, while adhering to best engineering practices and applicable regulations.
In this role, you will lead the electrical Balance of Plant (eBoP) activities, focusing on design review during the project tendering and construction phases. Additionally, you will provide operational support for eBoP at GE wind farms and collaborate with the Sales/Bid team during the tender stage.
This role is based in our Melbourne office (hybrid) with site travel on as needs basis.
Key Responsibilities
Provide regular technical advice, troubleshooting support and address closure of field issues by providing technical insight/analysis
Prepare detail work plans and scopes for wind farm eBoP scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities in coordination with services team
Develop baseline eBoP design during project initiation phase to support bid team
Contribute to constructability reviews during pre‐construction planning and during wind farm construction phase
Interpret contractual requirements and technical specifications to produce design and build specifications for issue to subcontractors
Review proposals from EPC and BoP bidders for contractual and technical compliance, design and delivery risk
About You
Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering
Substantial experience in utility scale renewable energy or transmission and distribution substation design and/or Asset Management/troubleshooting
Experience in Wind/Solar projects and/or electrical substation O&M;, design projects
Proficiency in plant layout, equipment ratings, insulation coordination, line design, earthing, lightning protection, AC/DC demand, cable rating, and MV Collector system design
Understanding of High Voltage primary and secondary systems and electrical equipment, including transformers, protection and control, SCADA/Communication systems, reactive plants, Asynchronous generators, AC/DC systems and maintenance and operation of substations
Ability and willingness to travel if and when needed to project sites and external stakeholder locations
Highly Regarded
Knowledge of AEMO requirements, National Electricity Rules (NER) and grid connection processes.
Chartered Engineer status or eligibility for Engineers Australia Chartered accreditation.
CPEng and/or RPEQ accreditation
