Community Based Aboriginal Youth Justice Worker
An prospect to join a well established team, as a Community Based Aboriginal Youth Justice Worker, providing culturally responsive support to Aboriginal young people involved in, or at risk of entering, the youth justice system.
SCHADS Level 4 or 5 based on level of qualification and experience
Located at Morwell - supporting young people in Latrobe and Baw Baw Shires.
Contract to 31 December ****

Your role:
Support young people, aged ****** years, their families, and community to strengthen cultural identity and wellbeing
Case Management, Case Support and/or Group Work
Deliver cultural, recreational, and educational programs
Develop and support Aboriginal Cultural Support Plans
Advocate for clients across service systems
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders including DJCS, DFFH, Police, legal services, and community organisations
This role is part of a multidisciplinary team working to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
Role Requirements:
Qualification in Youth Work, Community Services or related field is highly desired (or willingness to obtain)
Strong understanding of local Aboriginal culture, community, and key social issues
Knowledge of factors contributing to youth justice system involvement




Ability to engage with Aboriginal young people and conduct outreach support
Good communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Good organisation and time management skills
Sound computer skills and record-keeping capability
