About the role
The Manager, Risk & Lender Compliance plays a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of Housing Australia's Help to Buy program by embedding robust risk management and compliance practices across the scheme. Working closely with internal teams and participating lenders, the role is responsible for overseeing non-financial risk, challenging and enhancing control frameworks, monitoring compliance obligations, and driving continuous improvement in risk management practices. This position provides assurance that effective controls are in place to support the program's integrity, operational effectiveness, and delivery of positive outcomes for eligible home.
Key responsibilities
Support the delivery of Help to Buy's risk management framework, including identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting on operational risks and controls across the program.
Manage risk incidents, issues, and remediation activities, conducting root cause analysis, assessing business impacts, and tracking actions to closure.
Maintain and enhance risk, compliance, and business continuity controls, including risk and obligation registers, periodic risk assessments, audit activities, and business continuity planning.
Monitor lender compliance and stakeholder obligations, working with participating lenders to resolve compliance matters, maintain compliance registers,
and ensure alignment with Housing Australia and Government requirements.
Skills and experience
Demonstrated experience in risk, compliance, assurance, audit, operational risk, or control functions, ideally within financial services, banking, lending, or a professional services setting.
Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and regulatory environments, with the ability to assess risks, analyse issues, and provide practical recommendations to support business outcomes.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with a proven ability to influence, collaborate, and build effective relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including the ability to think critically, identify underlying issues, and translate insights into actionable improvements.
Experience or knowledge of lending operations and financial services compliance requirements is highly regarded, particularly in areas such as residential mortgages, settlements, customer complaints, or case management systems. Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, government, or a related discipline will be well regarded.
