We're partnering with a well-established Australian tech organisation undergoing significant growth and investment across its operations function.
As the business continues to scale, we're seeking an experienced Operations & Risk Manager to lead a critical operational function focused on payments, operational risk, fraud prevention and continuous improvement.
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a collaborative, high-performing business where you'll work across operations, technology, compliance and customer-facing teams to improve processes, strengthen controls and support the delivery of exceptional customer outcomes.
About the role
Reporting to a senior operational leader, you'll take ownership of a broad portfolio encompassing payments operations, operational risk, fraud controls and process optimisation.
You'll play a key role in ensuring operational performance remains efficient, scalable and compliant, whilst driving initiatives that improve customer experience and reduce operational risk.
Key responsibilities
Lead day-to-day payments operations, ensuring transactions are processed accurately, securely and efficiently.
Drive operational excellence across payment processing, transaction monitoring and operational risk management.
Develop, review and enhance operational procedures, governance frameworks and internal controls.
Monitor payment performance, operational metrics and emerging fraud trends, implementing proactive improvements.
Oversee operational incidents,



investigations and root cause analysis to minimise customer and business impact.
Partner with internal stakeholders across Technology, Product, Compliance, Customer Operations and Commercial teams to deliver operational improvements.
Support the operational delivery of new payment capabilities, products and strategic initiatives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external payment providers and industry partners.
Produce meaningful operational reporting and insights for senior leadership.
Identify opportunities for automation, process optimisation and continuous improvement.
Ensure operations continue to meet internal governance standards and relevant regulatory obligations.
About you
You'll bring experience from a payments, financial services, fintech, banking or similarly regulated environment, together with a genuine passion for operational excellence.
You'll ideally possess experience across several of the following:
Payments Operations
Payment Risk
Fraud Operations
Transaction Monitoring
Merchant or Acquiring Operations
Operational Risk & Controls
Governance & Compliance
Incident Management
Process Improvement & Automation
Continuous Improvement
Stakeholder Management
Experience working with payment providers, acquiring environments or card-based payment ecosystems will be highly regarded.
