Location:
Brisbane CBD
Hours:
8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday
Employment type:
Full-time contract
Contract length:
Until 31 December ****, with potential for ongoing extensions

$***** per hour casual, not inclusive of superannuation

We are currently seeking an experienced APS5 Instructional Designer to support a major federal government program focused on improving frontline service delivery and organisational capability. This role will suit a confident learning and development professional with strong instructional design capability, experience developing accessible learning products and the ability to work with complex operational, policy and technical content. You will contribute to the design, development, implementation and evaluation of learning solutions for frontline service delivery teams.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand frontline role requirements, develop learning content and ensure training products are practical, accessible and aligned to business needs. About the role As the APS5 Instructional Designer, you will provide technical, professional, policy and operational support across a range of learning design activities. You may also assist with strategic planning, program and project management, capability development and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role involves regular stakeholder engagement and may include contact with internal and external stakeholders in relation to complex, sensitive or operationally important matters.
Key responsibilities
Your duties may include:
Developing learning content for frontline service delivery staff, including formal modules, coaching activities, support resources and learning materials
Liaising with stakeholders to understand role requirements and embed business needs into learning design
Collaborating with learning teams to ensure reporting, evaluation, administration, deployment and facilitation needs are considered




Following governance frameworks, quality assurance processes and document control procedures
Using learning design software to create high-quality and accessible training products
Conducting learning needs analysis for ad hoc training requests
Supporting continuous improvement to streamline processes and improve business efficiency
Designing and maintaining a portfolio of learning solutions and content
Developing blended learning solutions across eLearning, face-to-face delivery, self-paced learning, on-the-job tools, virtual classrooms and video-based learning
Monitoring accessible training packages against WCAG 2.0 AA standards
Supporting train-the-trainer processes and facilitator upskilling where required
Skills and experience required
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
3 or more years' experience in a learning and development environment
Experience conducting training analysis, design, development and evaluation activities
Strong instructional design capability across analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation
Experience developing eLearning, facilitator guides, learner materials, self-paced resources and blended learning solutions
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Articulate Rise and Articulate Storyline
Ability to translate technical concepts into plain English and meaningful visuals
Ability to work to a style guide and maintain consistency across multiple training deliverables
Experience developing accessible learning materials aligned to WCAG 2.0 AA standards
Solid stakeholder engagement, consultation, coaching and facilitation skills




Proven ability to work independently and deliver against tight timeframes
Ability to respond quickly to changing requirements in an Agile environment
Well-developed understanding of adult learning principles and capability development
Highly desirable
Relevant qualifications in training and assessment, workplace training, instructional design, adult education or learning and development
TAE***** or equivalent training and assessment qualification
Experience delivering training programs in an operational training environment
Experience developing co-designed client learning materials and curriculum
Experience using existing and emerging learning technologies
Experience in a professional services environment
Understanding of, or lived experience in, the disability sector
Working conditions
This role may involve:
Working in an open office environment
Occasional work from home
Hot desk arrangements
Significant periods of desk-based and screen-based work
Telephone and computer-based duties
Use of Microsoft Office and internal business systems
Working in environments where assistance animals may be present
