We are partnering with a well-established specialist anaesthetics practice in Melbourne's inner east to find a capable and dependable Medical Administrator to join their supportive and collaborative team.
This opportunity would particularly suit someone coming from a fast-paced hospital administration, admissions, theatre bookings, patient services, or medical billing environment who is looking to apply their skills within a specialist private practice setting.
This role requires a strong understanding of how Medicare and private health funds operate, including claims, patient billing, rebates, and funding processes. While training will be provided on internal systems and procedures, candidates must possess a solid foundational understanding of these areas.

About the Role
This is a dynamic role within a fast-paced specialist environment where organisation, attention to detail, and consistency are key.
You'll support the day-to-day administrative operations of the practice, working closely with clinicians, patients, hospitals, and health funds to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Success in this role requires someone who can confidently navigate Medicare and private health fund processes,
communicate effectively with patients regarding financial matters, and manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Prepare and review specialist medical documentation with accuracy
Produce invoices and support billing administration processes
Issue Informed Financial Consents (IFCs) and procedure quotes
Enter patient and clinical information into MediTrust (training provided)
Communicate with patients regarding procedures, reminders, prepayments, and billing enquiries
Liaise with private health funds regarding claims, rebates, refunds, and outstanding matters
Support anaesthetists and theatre teams with daily administrative requirements
Manage multiple priorities while meeting daily processing targets
We're Looking for Someone Who
Has previous experience within healthcare administration, hospital administration, admissions, patient services, theatre bookings, or medical billing
Demonstrates a robust understanding of medical terminology
Possesses a sound working knowledge of Medicare and private health fund processes, including patient billing and rebates
Brings a mature mindset, reliability, and professionalism
Is highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
Communicates confidently and compassionately with patients
Has a proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Highly Regarded
Previous specialist medical administration experience
Exposure to anaesthetic, surgical, or theatre-based environments
Experience preparing Informed Financial Consents (IFCs) and procedure quotes
Experience using medical practice software systems
