Learn more about our network:http:-- Employment Type: Permanent Part Time Position Classification: Staff Specialist Hours Per Week: Up to 32 Requisition ID: REQ****** Applications are via eCredential The Respiratory & Sleep Medicine Department at The Children's Hospital at Westmead are seeking two permanent 0.4FTE each (16 hours per week) Staff Specialists to join their team from 1 September ****.
To provide expert clinical care to the department's priority areas in complex respiratory disorders and complex sleep disorders.
Expertise in emerging priorities such as managing children with complex upper airway anatomy such as cleft palate, novel therapies in managing respiratory failure, lung transplantation is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in both complex respiratory and sleep clinics.
The candidate should have excellent bronchoscopy skills.
The candidate should provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate must be currently research active with a robust research track record with publications in peer reviewed journals.
They should possess or have made substantial progress toward higher degree.
The candidate should demonstrate commitment to teaching and must participate in quality improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.
The candidate must abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney at a level commensurate with his-her qualifications and experience. The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the University Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.
The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to The Children's Hospital at Westmead for clinical matters. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Paediatric Respiratory & Sleep Medicine, and-or overseas trained specialist pathways and Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians and -or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award with recognised training in Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine.
Provide expertise in the management of acute and chronic, complex respiratory disorders (such as cystic fibrosis, asthma, bronchiectasis, empyema), complex sleep disorders, children with respiratory failure as well as lung transplantation. Proven expertise in the performance and interpretation of flexible bronchoscopy and performance and interpretation of lung function tests. Progressing towards or in possession of a higher degree in a relevant area and proven commitment to continuing education.
Proven track record in clinical research and is currently research active with supporting evidence and demonstrated commitment to teaching and quality improvement. Participate in emerging department priorities such as managing children with complex airway anatomy such as cleft palate, and novel therapies in managing respiratory failure, lung transplantation. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills Availability to participate in on-call respiratory and sleep roster, provide Bandaged Bear OPD respiratory and sleep clinics and to respond on site within a reasonable time for emergency bronchoscopy.
