Soils Laboratory Manager
to lead our laboratory operations.
About the Role
This is an exciting chance for an experienced laboratory professional to manage the day-to-day operations of our soils laboratory while ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and technical excellence.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for leading the laboratory team, maintaining NATA compliance, coordinating testing programs, and ensuring timely delivery of accurate test results to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain current NATA accreditation while performing routine laboratory and field testing in accordance with relevant testing methodologies and standards, ensuring all work is completed to the highest quality standards.
Correlate test data, prepare reports and communicate findings to customers, ensuring clarity and technical accuracy
Lead, mentor, and supervise laboratory technicians.
Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records, and maintenance schedules.
Develop and improve laboratory procedures and quality systems.
Manage laboratory inventory and procurement of consumables.
Build strong client relationships through responsive communication and reliable service delivery.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory operations.
About You
Experience managing or supervising a geotechnical or construction materials laboratory.
Strong knowledge of Australian Standards for geotechnical laboratory testing.
Experience working within a NATA-accredited laboratory.
Excellent leadership and people management skills.
Strong organisational and time management abilities.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A proactive attitude with the ability to solve problems and improve processes.
A valid driver's licence
Desirable Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of NATA Level 5 or 4 signatory experience in Soils, Aggregate, and Rock Laboratory
Experience with laboratory quality management systems.li>
Understanding of ISO/IEC ***** requirements.
