FREDERICK JORDAN CHAMBERS
is a large set of barristers' chambers located at 53 Martin Place, SYDNEY and is proximate to Martin Place Station and is otherwise well serviced by public transport.
An opportunity has arisen within the administration of the Chambers that is an entry level position and would suit a recent school leaver (HSC) or business college graduate seeking to commence or develop a career within the legal services industry or professional services sector.
This position is full-time working Monday to Friday, inclusive, from 8.45am to 5.15pm.
The successful candidate should possess the requisite people skills and maturity necessary to be the "first contact" for persons visiting the Chambers for work, as well as the ability to work under the direction of the Managers as part of a small group of clerical and administrative staff responsible for servicing the needs of approximately 100 barristers, across a range of clerical and administrative services, as and when required.
Reception duties
will involve and include the welcoming of solicitors and other persons to the Chambers and attending on the front desk, responding to incoming calls, taking messages and relaying messages whenever required.
General office duties, other than reception
,
will include mail distribution; document deliveries; trolley deliveries to courts and tribunals within the CBD and other related attendances; photocopying; and maintenance of loose-leaf subscription services.
Basic administrative and clerical tasks
will include simple financial management tasks such as assisting in the recording of sundry expenses incurred by individual barristers by way of refreshments; dry cleaning and other minor billed expenditures.
All training will be provided 'on the job', and though not essential, prior work experience in a similar role which has involved customer contact or work within an office setting will be an advantage.
Candidates
must be able
to use and are familiar with the Microsoft Office suite, in particular, Word, Outlook, and Excel, and may have gained keyboard skills, including touch typing skills by way of any prior employment or training. Candidates who have, in addition, an understanding of financial software such as MYOB or XERO would be looked upon favourably but is not essential.
Wages upon commencement will be paid in accordance with the wages and conditions payable under the Legal Services Award ****.
For the right candidate an annualised wage arrangement up to $60,250 per annum plus 12% statutory superannuation will be made available.
