Senior Piping Engineer
to join our Melbourne office.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for a
hands-on Senior Piping Engineer
with proven EPCM consulting experience in mining and mineral processing projects.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will lead piping engineering activities across studies, FEED, detailed design and project delivery. This is a technical role suited to an engineer who enjoys remaining actively involved in design while mentoring junior engineers and delivering practical, high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Engineering Manager or Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Lead piping engineering design for mining and mineral processing projects.
Develop and review piping specifications, datasheets, line lists, material take-offs, calculations and technical reports.
Design and coordinate process piping systems including slurry, process water, reagent, compressed air and utility services.
Develop piping layouts, equipment interfaces and plant design solutions.
Participate in 3D model reviews using
Bentley OpenPlant
and
AutoCAD
.
Review vendor documentation and provide technical input into equipment procurement and technical bid evaluations.
Coordinate closely with Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural and Electrical & Instrumentation disciplines.
Participate in HAZOPs, design reviews, constructability reviews and risk assessments.
Provide engineering support during procurement, construction and commissioning.
Mentor junior engineers and review engineering deliverables.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors and project stakeholders.
Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, ASME codes, client specifications and project requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
8+ years' experience
as a Piping Engineer within mining, mineral processing or EPCM consulting.
Solid experience delivering studies, FEED, detailed design and EPCM projects.
Excellent knowledge of process plant piping systems, piping materials, valves, pipe supports and plant layout.
Experience with slurry piping, pressure piping and process piping systems.
Sound knowledge of
ASME B31.3
, AS **** and relevant Australian Standards.
Experience using
Bentley OpenPlant
and
AutoCAD
.
Strong multidisciplinary coordination and communication skills.
A practical, hands-on and solutions-focused approach to engineering.
Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following will be highly regarded:
Gold processing plants (CIL/CIP)
Copper, lithium, rare earths, iron ore and other critical minerals
Crushing, screening and materials handling plants
Hydrometallurgical and concentrator projects
Brownfield and greenfield developments
Site construction, commissioning and operational support
