We're asmall businessseeking an experiencedWorkshop Assistantto work on our stainless-steel surface treatment operations, specialising inpickling and passivation.
This is a hands-on role where you'll contribute to the workflow, safety, quality, and productivity in a busy workshop setting.
If you have strong trade experience, understand chemical treatment processes for stainless steel, dispatch and receivals forklift operational experience, or simply want to learn new skills and trade we would love to hear from you.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, and Workshop Manager you'll be responsible for performing daily workshop activities, ensuring safe and compliant processing of stainless-steel components, and maintaining consistent quality control and delivery schedules.
This role requires bothpractical technical abilityandstrong hands-on skills.
Key Responsibilities
Performpickling, passivation, rinsing and finishing (training to be provided)
Ensure correct chemical mixing, bath control, and process consistency (where applicable)
Maintain high standards ofquality assurance.
Teamwork and reporting
Enforce safety and compliance procedures (handling acids, PPE, ventilation, spill response)
Participate in toolbox talks, training, complete daily checklists
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in process, safety, and efficiency
Ability to load and unload deliveries
Mainly working in the yard with the forklift, receiving,
unloading, and loading trucks.
About You
You're a confident hands-on person with proven experience in a workshop, fabrication environments, or industrial surface treatment.
You're safety-driven, organised, and capable communicating with a team while maintaining high technical and quality standards.
Skills & Experience Required
Demonstrated experience instainless steel pickling and passivation (desirable)
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a workshop or industrial environment is required
Strong understanding in safety procedures*
Experience in chemical handling(Desirable)
Ability to interpret job specs, drawings, and quality requirements*(Desirable)
Strong communication and problem-solving skills*
Ability to operate Overhead cranes and pressure washers
Previous crane operating experience(Desirable)
Forklift licence (essential)*
White Card (desirable but not essential)
Experience with QA systems and job documentation(advantage)
Solution oriented
Ability to follow strict procedures
Team-oriented attitude
