What you'll be doing?
Leading site operations- Supervise and coordinate all structural steel erection and installation activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Managing crews and lifting activities- Direct installation crews, subcontractors, crane operations, and all lifting activities to keep projects running smoothly and safely.
Delivering to plan- Ensure all works align with engineering drawings, specifications, and project schedules, contributing to successful and timely project outcomes.
Driving safety on site- Conduct daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety inspections to uphold WHS regulations, site safety plans, and company procedures.
Collaborating with key stakeholders- Liaise with project managers, engineers, builders, and clients to facilitate seamless project delivery and resolve any emerging issues.
Solving problems proactively- Identify and address site issues,
delays, and quality concerns, keeping projects on track and maintaining high standards.
Maintaining accurate records- Keep detailed site records, progress reports, and documentation to support project transparency and accountability.
Managing resources effectively- Oversee the allocation of materials, equipment, and labour to maximise productivity and minimise downtime.
Fostering a positive team culture- Champion a professional, inclusive, and supportive environment where every team member can perform at their best.
Setting out structural elements- Carry out set-out and marking of Holding Down Bolts and Site Welded elements with precision and accuracy.
Who are they looking for?
Proven site supervision experience- A minimum of 4 years of hands‐on experience supervising structural steel installation projects is required for this role.
Technical knowledge of steel erection- Solid understanding of steel erection methods, rigging, lifting, and construction sequencing is essential.
Drawing interpretation skills- The ability to read and interpret structural and shop drawings confidently is a key requirement.
Strong leadership and communication- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem‐solving skills to effectively lead teams and liaise with stakeholders.
Safety awareness- A strong understanding of workplace safety requirements and risk management practices is fundamental to success in this role.
Ability to manage competing priorities- Comfort working in fast‐paced construction environments and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
White Card- A current Construction Induction Safety certificate (White Card) is required.
Trade qualification- A relevant trade qualification such as Boilermaking, Steel Fabrication, Rigging, or similar is preferred to support technical credibility on site.
High Risk Work Licence- A High Risk Work Licence in Rigging, Dogging, or EWP is preferred, given the nature of crane and lifting operations involved in this role.
Driver's Licence- A current driver's licence is required, as the role spans various sites across the Sydney metropolitan area.
First Aid Certification- A current First Aid certificate is advantageous and demonstrates a commitment to on‐site safety.
Welding knowledge- Basic knowledge of welding procedures using both stick and MIG welding machines will be highly regarded.
Language requirements- Strong English communication skills are important for conducting safety briefings, reading technical documentation, and coordinating effectively with clients, engineers, and crew members.
