Job Description
The Standards Potting Team Leader is responsible for growing and maintaining plants from tube stock up to 300mm sizes. This is a hands‐on leadership role focused on meeting production standards and targets through effective supervision, planning and staff support.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate daily potting and maintenance tasks across the standard stock team, which consists of between 4-6 staff.
Provide leadership, direction and mentoring to standard stock workers
Complete and maintain accurate potting records daily and ensure data integrity for inventory and reporting
Ensure scheduled production targets are met on time and in line with quality expectations
Monitor growing pad maintenance including weeding, blocking up and hygiene standards
Oversee accurate selection, preparation and tagging of stock
Coordinate picking of stock when required for dispatch
Promote safe working practices including proper PPE use and machinery operation
Liaise with the Operations Manager to resolve issues,



improve processes and manage supplies
Assist with onboarding and integration of new team members
Skills & Experience
Practical knowledge of horticultural production practices, particularly tube stock to 300mm
Detailed plant knowledge in relation to species types and growing characteristic
Proven ability to lead and supervise a production team in a nursery setting
Accurate record‐keeping and strong communication skills
Proficiency with potting machinery and nursery equipment – forklift/bobcat licence an advantage
Physically fit and able to work in a fast‐paced, outdoor production environment
Understanding of and commitment to safe working practices, including chemical handling and PPE requirements
Organised, self‐motivated and focused on delivering production outcomes
Relevant horticultural qualification (Cert II or III) advantageous but not essential
