CORPORATE LAW WITH REAL CLIENT IMPACT
You know how to draft the document. The more valuable skill is understanding why the client needs it, identifying what they have not considered and giving advice that supports the commercial outcome they are trying to achieve.
This Brisbane corporate and commercial practice is looking for a Senior Associate who wants to operate at that level.
You will advise business owners, executives and growth-focused companies across transactions, governance, ownership arrangements and day-to-day commercial matters. The clients are engaged, the work is wide-ranging and you will be trusted to take ownership rather than wait for instructions to be filtered through multiple layers.
This is a key appointment within a growing practice. You will manage your own matters and client relationships, work closely with senior leadership and help support the development of more junior lawyers.
The Opportunity
The role offers the autonomy expected at Senior Associate level, without leaving you isolated.
You will have direct access to experienced senior lawyers when collaboration is useful, while retaining the freedom to manage matters, communicate with clients and make commercially considered recommendations.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to how the practice continues to develop. Your ideas, judgement and client relationships will be visible and valued.
The firm is open to lawyers who have developed depth in some, but not every, area of corporate law. Where there are gaps in your experience, you will be supported with practical training and exposure to broaden your capability.
The Work
Your matters will include:
Business acquisitions and sales
Shareholders agreements and ownership arrangements
Corporate governance, structuring and advisory work
Capital structures and investment rounds
Supplier, service and other commercial agreements
Intellectual property matters




Compliance-related commercial advice
Leasing matters connected with business transactions
General corporate and commercial contract work
The work extends beyond producing technically correct documents. You will understand the broader commercial context, identify potential issues early and help clients make informed decisions.
About You
You will have at least
5 years' PAE
in corporate and commercial law, with strong drafting, advisory and client management skills.
You will also be someone who:
Is comfortable independently managing matters and competing priorities
Can communicate complex advice clearly and commercially
Builds credibility with business owners and senior executives
Looks beyond the immediate legal task to the client's broader objective
Uses sound judgement and is prepared to make a recommendation
Enjoys mentoring and providing technical support to junior lawyers
Wants autonomy while remaining part of an accessible, collaborative team
You do not need to arrive with experience across every listed area. A strong commercial foundation, intellectual curiosity and the willingness to keep developing will be more important than ticking every box.
