The Jones Retail Group is a multi-award winning and innovative independent grocer with a mission to deliver a never‐before‐seen supermarket experience to local communities across our 11 stores (and growing) in Southeast Queensland, Gold Coast and the Scenic Rim.

Our business is on a growth trajectory as 2026 sees us mark our 31st year in Retail! We are seeking an experienced, proactive People & Culture Manager who thrives in a fast‐paced, hands‐on environment.

The Role

/n

Based at our Support Office in Cleveland, this Senior Leadership role is crucial in shaping people, process and performance across our 11 stores and Support Office. This role is highly visible requiring the successful candidate to work both in the office and with our operational teams across the stores.

This role is truly generalist, and you'll be trusted to deliver across the full employee lifecycle whilst carving out the strategy, driving continuous improvement and ensuring safety and compliance.

Your key responsibilities

/n

/n

- Ownership of end‐to‐end recruitment and employee lifecycle activities, from onboarding and training through to performance management and offboarding

/n

- Support Store Managers and other senior leaders with employee relations, advice, coaching, process and policy

/n

- Manage employee relations matters including conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and performance improvement plans

/n

- Write and interpret policies across the HR function with support via the Master Grocers Association (MGA)

/n

- Provide expert guidance on General Retail Industry Award,



workplace legislation, and Fair Work matters to ensure compliant and consistent practices

/n

- Management of time and attendance system and internal HR systems with a process improvement mindset

/n

- Manage Work Cover claims, communication, support and return to work strategies and plans

/n

- Monitor and report on workplace health and safety and provide policy, training and structure to store teams

/n

- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Operations Manager on all people, structure and organisational matters

/n

- Provide clear, commercial advice balancing people outcomes with business priorities

/n

- Understand the operational in‐store environment to provide relevant advice to the front‐line team

/n

- Management of online training content and creation in conjunction with the IGA Training Academy

/n

- Management of school‐based trainees and/or apprentices, build relationships with ILO's and apprenticeship bodies

/n/n

What you'll need to succeed

/n

Along with your strong work ethic, you'll bring a fun and enthusiastic energy and are excited by the thought of working with a close knit and friendly team who value team spirit and culture, as well as;

- Strong operational HR leadership experience within a multi‐site environment across 500+ employee organisations

/n

- Degree in Human Resource Management or similar vocation

/n

- Experience partnering with senior operational managers in fast‐paced environments

/n

- Strong influencing capability with the ability to build relationships and credibility across all levels in the business

/n

- Proven experience in employee relations, conflict resolution and disciplinary processes

/n

- Strong Award and fair work legislation interpretation skills

/n

- Transparent written and verbal communication skills

/n

- Ability to work in a fast‐paced environment, prioritise workload and work to a deadline

/n

- A practical, commercially grounded approach to HR, focused on outcomes

/n

- Exposure to industries such as retail or FMCG will be highly regarded

/n/n

This position is full‐time on‐site at our beautiful current Support Office in the heart of Cleveland and working hours can be negotiated for the right candidate.
