Locum Emergency Medicine Registrars - PHO level - Cairns, QLD

About the Role: We are currently recruiting Emergency Medicine Registrars (PHO level) for locum contracts at a major tertiary referral and teaching hospital in Far North Queensland. 3 positions on offer, covering the period 3 August 2026 through 31 January 2027.

This is a fantastic chance to broaden your emergency medicine experience across an incredibly varied casemix, spanning metropolitan-level acuity through to regional, rural and remote presentations. You will be based at a large teaching hospital of around 530 beds, well regarded for its teaching culture, multidisciplinary approach and the sheer breadth of presentations that come through its doors.

- Assess and manage undifferentiated emergency presentations across all acuity levels
- Provide high-quality clinical care within a busy tertiary emergency department
- Manage resuscitation, trauma and critical care presentations as part of the ED team
- Collaborate with senior medical staff, nursing and allied health across a multidisciplinary setting
- Support referral and transfer coordination for regional, rural and remote patients




- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Participate in departmental education and training activities

About You:

- AHPRA registered Medical Practitioner
- Currently practising at Registrar/PHO level in Emergency Medicine
- Confident managing undifferentiated and high-acuity presentations
- Works effectively both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
- Eligible to work in Australia
