Mitchell Shire is where the city meets the country. Located just 40 minutes north of Melbourne, we're home to thriving townships, beautiful natural landscapes and some of Australia's fastest-growing communities.

With a current population of more than 64,000 residents and forecast growth to over 220,000 by 2046, there has never been a more exciting time to join Mitchell Shire Council. As we continue to grow, so do the opportunities to make a genuine difference to our community and help shape the future of one of Victoria's most energetic municipalities.

At Mitchell Shire Council, you'll be part of a progressive, inclusive and supportive organisation that values collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. Together, we work as One Mitchell, guided by our values of Trusted, Engaged and Innovative.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Team Leader (Aquatic Operations), the Operations Supervisor (South) oversees facility operations, maintenance and staff management including Duty Managers, Lifeguards and Outdoor Pool operations across multiple Mitchell Leisure Services facilities. You'll ensure our programs and facilities are high-quality, safe and budget compliant, while driving improvements in business efficiency and compliance.

As part of the Leisure Leadership Team, you'll contribute to strategic and operational performance across the service, and may be called on to assume Senior Team Leader responsibilities when required. You'll work in partnership with the Operations Supervisor (North) to lead the Operations team, and will support and relieve them as needed throughout the year.

Day to day, you'll:

- Lead and support operational staff including lifeguards, duty managers and training providers, to ensure high facility and safety standards
- Oversee rostering, payroll and HR activities, and undertake performance reviews for operational staff alongside the Senior Team Leader
- Maintain compliance with the Royal Life Saving Society's Guidelines for Safe Swimming Pool Operation (GSPO), developing and maintaining the water quality risk management plan, supervision risk assessment and lifeguard deployment plan
- Manage facility maintenance, pool plant operations and the Mitchell Leisure Services asset register, and act as chief warden for Mitchell Leisure Services facilities

- Oversee seasonal Outdoor Pool operations, including season opening/closing, staff induction and end-of-season reporting
- Support business administration including procurement, corporate reporting, accounts receivable/payable and point of sale systems
- Deliver annual in-service training for lifeguards and duty managers, and conduct annual safety audits with rectification action plans
- Build strong relationships with customers, community groups, schools and other Council departments to support the objectives of Mitchell Leisure Services

This is a great opportunity for an experienced facility and aquatics operations professional who enjoys leading a team, solving problems on the go, and making a genuine impact on community health and wellbeing.

This is a permanent opportunity.

Remuneration begins at $78.5K to $89.5K (Band 5) plus superannuation.
