Join Our Team as a Ranger - Great Sandy Management Unit (OO5 Compliance)

Purpose - We care for Queensland's natural places by building strong connections with people, wildlife, and the landscapes we protect
People - We are passionate, proud, and driven to be our best, working together to collaborate, innovate and keep each other safe
Success - We create lasting, positive impact—where nature thrives and communities value and connect with the workplace.
The Opportunity - Ranger, Great Sandy Marine Park
Join our maritime operations team as a OO5 Ranger - Compliance and help manage the spectacular Great Sandy Marine Park, where no two days are ever the same. One day you could be leading on-water compliance operations; the next, responding to marine wildlife strandings or protecting culturally significant sites.
Why Join Us
Because here, your work matters. You'll contribute to something bigger—protecting Queensland's natural heritage while building a career filled with variety, adventure and purpose. Every patrol, every project and every decision helps shape the future of our environment. Be part of a passionate, supportive team that values collaboration, diversity and safety—on the water and on land.
What You'll Do
Step into a leadership role where your impact is real and visible. You'll:
• Lead compliance and enforcement operations in the marine park, protecting wildlife, habitats and sustainable use
• Educate and connect with the community, promoting responsible recreation and conservation
• Deliver hands-on conservation work,
from pest and fire management to maintaining vital infrastructure like walking tracks, moorings and campgrounds
• Manage and inspire a small team, driving projects that support environmental and recreational outcomes
• Collaborate with agencies and stakeholders, including local communities and First Nations peoples
• Respond to emergencies, from bushfires to flood recovery works to marine animal strandings.
Collaborative & Innovative Culture
Work alongside Traditional Owners and partner agencies including Department of Fisheries and Maritime Safety Queensland. Contribute ideas that improve safety, efficiency and environmental outcomes.
We're looking for a natural leader who:
• Has strong experience in compliance, enforcement
• Conservation skills and experience in land and marine management
• Understands and applies legislative knowledge to identify offences and take compliance action in the Marine Park and adjacent National Parks
• Brings practical skills in maintenance, construction, and project delivery
• Communicates confidently with the public and diverse stakeholders
• Thrives in a team-focused, hands-on environment
• Is committed to supporting positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
