About the role
Lead strategic procurement. Build capability. Deliver commercial value.
We're looking for an experienced procurement leader to lead our Category team and drive high-performing category management outcomes that deliver value, manage risk, and support organisational priorities.
In this leadership role, you'll guide a team of Category Specialists and Senior Category Specialists, providing strategic direction across sourcing, contract management, supplier relationships, and category planning. You'll play a key role in shaping procurement strategy, influencing stakeholders, and delivering commercial outcomes across complex and high-value categories.
In this role, you will -
- Lead and inspire a high-performing Category team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and deliver category strategies that optimise value, strengthen supply resilience, and support organisational objectives.
- Provide leadership across sourcing, contract management, supplier relationship management, and commercial negotiations.
- Oversee complex, high-value and high-risk procurement activities, ensuring strong governance and commercial outcomes.
- Drive supplier performance, value realisation, and continuous improvement across key categories.
- Coach, mentor and develop Category Specialists and Senior Category Specialists to build capability and consistency.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to provide trusted commercial advice and influence strategic decision-making.
- Manage commercial, contractual and supply chain risks while ensuring compliance with procurement policy, legislative requirements and probity standards.
About you
You're an experienced procurement leader with a strategic mindset, strong commercial acumen and a passion for developing people. You have extensive experience in procurement and category management across complex and high-value categories, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering measurable commercial outcomes.
You combine strategic thinking with operational excellence, confidently developing and executing category strategies while leading significant commercial negotiations and managing procurement risk. Your strong understanding of procurement frameworks, contract management, commercial governance and supply market dynamics enables you to make informed decisions and deliver sustainable value.
You'll be an effective communicator who builds trusted relationships at all levels of the organisation.
With exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, you're comfortable partnering with senior leaders, presenting complex information clearly and providing sound commercial advice.
Ideally, you'll also bring:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, using data and market insights to drive decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive reporting and presentations.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business, Supply Chain or a related discipline (desirable).
- A leadership style that reflects our organisational values and inspires collaboration, accountability and high performance.
