Your new role

APS6 Financial Reporting Officer responsibilities:

As an APS6, you will take ownership of complex financial reporting activities, provide technical accounting advice and contribute to strategic finance outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting the preparation and presentation of monthly and annual financial statements
- Applying Commonwealth financial legislation, accounting standards and internal accounting policies
- Leading financial reporting, compliance and quality assurance activities
- Providing expert technical accounting advice to business stakeholders
- Managing balance sheet reconciliations, analysis and investigation of complex reconciling items
- Designing solutions to audit, financial reporting and compliance issues
- Liaising with auditors, business units, procurement teams, systems specialists and senior stakeholders
- Supporting governance, risk management and financial control activities
- Contributing to policy development, project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives
- Coaching and mentoring team members while helping build broader team capability

APS5 Financial Reporting Officer responsibilities:
As an APS5, you will contribute to the delivery of financial accounting and reporting services while developing your technical accounting and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

- Assisting with monthly and annual financial reporting requirements
- Preparing journals, reconciliations and balance sheet analyses
- Applying accounting policies,



procedures and financial reporting frameworks
- Providing advice to business areas on financial accounting matters
- Supporting the resolution of financial reporting and compliance issues
- Conducting research, reviews and analysis to support reporting outcomes
- Building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships
- Contributing to team objectives and continuous improvement activities
- Analysing financial data to support external reporting requirements
- Proactively managing assigned work and meeting key reporting deadlines

What you'll need to succeed

- Must be an Australian citizen with at least a Baseline security clearance

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

- Experience in financial accounting, financial reporting or statutory reporting
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial compliance frameworks
- Experience preparing journals, reconciliations and balance sheet analyses
- Ability to interpret legislation, policies and accounting standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes to deadlines
- Professional accounting qualifications or progress towards certification will be highly regarded
