Hobart

BPSM Architects is seeking an experienced Project Architect to join our Hobart studio. This is an opportunity to take a senior delivery role within a well-established Tasmanian practice working across health, community, education, commercial, residential and public-sector projects.

Based in Battery Point, BPSM is recognised for practical, context-responsive architecture, strong local knowledge, and a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement, consultant coordination and project delivery. Our team works closely with clients, user groups, authorities and construction teams to deliver functional, sustainable and well-resolved design outcomes.

About the role

As Project Architect, you will help lead the design, documentation and delivery of projects from briefing and design development through to construction documentation, tender, contract administration and completion. You will work directly with directors, project teams, consultants and clients, taking responsibility for coordinating information, resolving technical issues, maintaining documentation quality and supporting clear communication across each project phase.

Key responsibilities

Lead or contribute to the preparation of design, tender and construction documentation.

Coordinate architectural work with structural, services, access, fire, health planning and other specialist consultants.

Manage project information, design issues, authority requirements, consultant inputs and client feedback.

Support stakeholder workshops, user group meetings, design reviews and project reporting.

Prepare and review details, schedules, specifications and construction-phase documentation.

Assist with tender queries,

contract administration, site inspections, defects lists and practical completion processes.

Maintain high standards of quality, compliance, documentation control and communication.

About you

A minimum of five years’ post-graduate project delivery experience, ideally across commercial, public-sector, health, education or complex refurbishment projects.

A Master of Architecture or equivalent qualification.

Strong documentation, detailing and technical coordination skills.

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD or comparable architectural documentation software.

Sound knowledge of the NCC, Australian Standards, planning and building approval pathways, and relevant statutory requirements.

Experience in consultant coordination, contract administration and construction-phase services.

Strong written, verbal and visual communication skills, with the ability to work confidently with clients, authorities, consultants and internal teams.

A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities with limited direction.

What we offer

A supportive, experienced and collaborative team environment.

Exposure to meaningful and technically engaging projects across Tasmania and interstate.

Opportunities for qualified growth, leadership and career development.

A competitive salary package, commensurate with experience.

A Battery Point office close to the Hobart waterfront and CBD.
