About the Project
McConnell Dowell in joint venture with John Holland is delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland for Genex Power — a world-first renewable energy development transforming a former gold mine into a pumped hydro energy storage facility.

Once complete, Kidston will provide up to 250MW of rapid-response renewable energy to the National Electricity Market, generating enough power for more than 100,000 homes during peak demand periods. The project will create hundreds of jobs and play a significant role in Australia's transition to a sustainable energy future.

About the Role
As Permit Manager, you will be the key link between construction, commissioning and external supply authorities, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient permit-to-work, isolation and energization processes across the project.

Reporting to the Integration Manager, you'll work closely with commissioning teams, electrical supervisors, construction leaders and supply authorities including Ergon Energy and Powerlink. This is a high-profile leadership opportunity where you'll play a critical role in delivering major energization milestones on one of Australia's most innovative energy projects.

This role is offered on a 2:1 roster based at the Kidston project site.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the project's Permit-to-Work and isolation systems.
- Coordinate construction-to-commissioning handovers and energization activities.
- Interface with supply authorities for permits, inspections and network connections.
- Lead electrical isolation, LOTO and protected energization processes.
- Coach project teams on permit compliance and safety requirements.

Don't Tick All The Boxes? If you don't meet every requirement but have relevant experience or transferable skills, we encourage you to apply.

You may be a great fit for this role or other opportunities within McConnell Dowell.

What Will You Bring?

- Queensland Electrical Worker License (Electrical Mechanic) – mandatory.
- Extensive experience managing PTW systems on major infrastructure, industrial or energy projects.
- Strong HV electrical isolation, commissioning and energization experience.
- Proven ability to work with supply authorities and multiple project stakeholders.

Nice to have: High Voltage Switching certification and experience on renewable energy, utilities or substation projects.

What's In It For You?

- Join a nationally significant clean energy project.
- 2:1 roster supporting work-life balance.
- Opportunity to lead critical commissioning and energization milestones.
- Career development within a major infrastructure and energy contractor.
