Western NSW Local Health District is seeking Locum General Surgery Consultants / Specialists / VMOs to provide surgical cover across the Christmas and New Year period.

This role is suited to experienced General Surgeons who are confident managing onsite and offsite on-call requirements in a regional hospital setting. A General Surgery Registrar is available 24/7, providing solid support throughout the placement.

Clinical Environment:

General Surgery Consultant / Specialist / VMO cover
Regional hospital setting within Western NSW
Onsite and offsite on-call requirements
General Surgery Registrar support available 24/7
Holiday period locum cover across a busy regional service

Key Duties:

Provide General Surgery on-call cover
Review and manage acute surgical presentations
Support clinical decision-making and escalation of care
Complete documentation, handover and management plans
Work collaboratively with surgical, nursing and hospital teams

Eligibility Criteria:

Current AHPRA Specialist Registration




Recent General Surgery consultant-level experience
Ability to manage onsite and offsite on-call requirements
Strong communication, leadership and clinical judgement
Current CV, references and compliance documents as required

What’s Provided:

$1,500 daily rate for 12-hour shifts
$2,500 daily rate for 24-hour shifts
