The role

We are seeking a commercially minded and detail-orientedCompliance Associate to join our Risk & Compliance team on afull-time fixed-term contract (18 months) based in Melbourne.

Reporting to the Compliance General Counsel, this role sitswithin our collaborative national Risk & General Counsel team andsupports the firm's client and matter intake processes.

You will work closely with partners, lawyers and businessservices teams across Australia, as well as Compliance colleaguesthroughout our international network, to help manage conflictsofinterest, confidentiality obligations, AML/CTF considerations andbroader compliance risks.

You will apply firm policies, professional obligations and soundcommercial judgement to support effective risk management andbusiness acceptance decisions.

Responsibilities

- Review and assess new clientand matter intake requests, identifying potential conflictsofinterest, confidentiality issues, matter risks, disclosureobligations and AML/CTF considerations.
- Advise partners, lawyers and business services teams onconflicts, compliance and business acceptance matters.




- Work collaboratively with Compliance teams across NortonRose Fulbright's global network to assess and resolveinternational conflicts and risk issues.
- Support the management and maintenance of informationbarriers, confidentiality arrangements and related riskcontrols.
- Assist with third-party payer reviews and related riskassessments.
- Assist with broader compliance matters, includingdirectorships and trusteeships, securities dealing requests,client relationship letters and arbitral appointments.
- Manage and respond to compliance queries relating to newbusiness acceptance.
- Liaise with stakeholders across the firm to gatherinformation, assess risks and facilitate timelydecision-making.
- Contribute to compliance initiatives, process improvementsand wider Risk & Compliance projects as required.

Requirements

- Qualified Solicitor with experience working in a conflicts,compliance or risk role within an international law firmenvironment.
- Previous experience assessing conflicts of interest, clientand matter acceptance issues, confidentiality obligations andassociated business acceptance risks.
- Working knowledge of AML/CTF obligations, professionalconduct requirements and risk management principles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complexinformation,



exercise sound commercial judgement and makerisk-based recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with theconfidence to engage effectively with partners, lawyers andsenior stakeholders.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and theability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive,solutions-focused approach.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, withthe ability to work confidently across all levels of thefirm.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced,deadline-driven environment.
