We're partnering with an established Australian technology company that designs, develops and manufactures its own embedded hardware and firmware products used by customers around the world.

The business has built a strong reputation for engineering quality and innovation, with products deployed across a wide range of commercial and industrial environments. They're now looking for an experienced embedded software leader to help shape the next generation of products while continuing to grow their engineering capability.

This Isn't Your Typical Management Role

You'll lead a small embedded software team while remaining heavily involved in the technical side of the business.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who has naturally progressed into leadership but still enjoys:

- Developing embedded software
- Solving difficult firmware problems
- Reviewing architecture and technical designs
- Debugging complex hardware/software issues
- Mentoring engineers
- Working closely with electronics and hardware teams

If you're looking to spend your week in meetings, this probably isn't the right role.

What You'll Be Working On

Working alongside software, electronics, hardware, manufacturing and product teams, you'll contribute across the full product lifecycle, including:

- Embedded firmware development
- Technical architecture and design
- Hardware/software integration




- Debugging and troubleshooting embedded systems
- Engineering process improvements
- Team mentoring and technical leadership
- Product innovation
- Supporting products from concept through to production

About You

You'll likely have experience across many of the following:

- Commercial embedded systems and firmware development
- Embedded C/C++
- RTOS and/or Embedded Linux
- Microcontroller-based development (STM32 or similar)
- Communication protocols and hardware integration
- Debugging low-level embedded systems
- Leading or mentoring embedded software engineers
- Working within product development environments

Most importantly, you're someone who enjoys balancing technical leadership with remaining hands-on.

Nice to Have

Experience with any of the following would be highly regarded:

- CI/CD for embedded software
- Automated testing
- Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing
- Engineering process improvement
- Growing or mentoring engineering teams
- Electronics or PCB exposure
