Support Workers Required – Male and Female (Reservoir, Pascoe Vale, Greensborough and Lilydale)

We are seeking compassionate, reliable and experienced Disability Support Workers to provide in-home and community-based support to participants and their families across Reservoir, Pascoe Vale, Greensborough and Lilydale.

Participants have varying and complex support needs, which may include autism, intellectual disability, physical disability, trauma-related needs and behaviours of concern. Some participants are non-verbal and may communicate through gestures, behaviours, communication devices or other alternative methods. At times, some participants may display self-injury, aggression or other behaviours of concern.

Some participants have experienced significant early childhood trauma and require consistent, trauma-informed support. Workers must be able to build trust and rapport, provide predictable and reliable care, support emotional regulation, and assist participants to develop daily living and independence skills.

We are also seeking a mature female support worker, ideally aged 28 or over, for a participant in her 30s who lives in the Lilydale area and has an intellectual disability. This is the participant’s stated preference. She would like support to access the community, attend groups and classes, and participate in activities that build her confidence, independence and social connections. She particularly enjoys arts and crafts, cooking and other creative activities.

Most importantly, we are looking for genuine, warm and caring people who truly want to help participants and their families live their best lives. Skills and experience are important, but so are kindness, patience, empathy and the ability to make each person feel safe, valued and understood.





These roles require workers who can provide an appropriate level of supervision while remaining calm, patient and consistent. You will support participants with their daily routines, communication, personal care, safety, emotional wellbeing, community participation and skill development while working collaboratively with families, therapists and Behaviour Support Practitioners.

Available shifts may include weekday afternoons and evenings, weekends, community access shifts and overnight support.

Key Responsibilities

- Providing after-school support
- Supporting after-school and evening routines
- Assisting with meals and personal care, including showering
- Supporting non-verbal participants and recognising individual communication cues
- Building trust and rapport through consistent, trauma-informed support
- Supporting emotional regulation and implementing calming strategies
- Assisting participants to develop daily living and independence skills
- Supporting community access and meaningful activities
- Assisting participants to attend groups, classes and social activities
- Supporting interests such as arts and crafts, cooking and creative activities
- Implementing structured routines and positive behaviour strategies
- Safely managing behaviours of concern
- Following Behaviour Support Plans and established care routines
- Supporting sleep routines and encouraging independent settling
- Maintaining clear communication with families and the broader support team




- Completing accurate shift notes and incident documentation when required

Hours and Availability

- Weekdays: approximately 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm
- Weekends: approximately 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Community access shifts may also be available during weekdays and weekends
- Evening and overnight shifts (Respite) are also available

About You

We are looking for support workers who are dependable, adaptable and committed to providing respectful, person-centred and trauma-informed support.

The successful applicants will ideally have:

- A genuine passion for supporting children, adults and families
- A warm, caring and patient nature
- Experience supporting people with autism, intellectual disability, trauma or complex support needs
- Experience supporting non-verbal participants and understanding alternative communication methods
- The ability to build trust and maintain consistent professional relationships
- Confidence managing behaviours of concern in a calm and safe manner
- Experience supporting community access, social participation and independence
- Robust communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals
- Experience implementing behavioural strategies, structured routines or sleep routines
- Relevant qualifications in Disability, Community Services, Individual Support or a related field
- A valid Working with Children Check
- A valid NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one
- A current First Aid and CPR certificate
- A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- The ability to provide relevant employment references

Employment Type: Casual

Hourly Rate: $40–$80, depending on the shift, experience and applicable penalty rates
