About This Chance
The School of Economics is seeking a reliable and collaborative Operations Officer to support the effective and efficient day-to-day operations of the School. Working within a small, diverse and dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in creating a seamless environment for staff, students, researchers and visitors. As part of UQ’s professional services engine room, you will help create meaningful change by supporting operational excellence, fostering a connected community, and contributing to a culture that is supportive, inclusive and purpose-driven.
This is a full time (100%) continuing position at HEW Level 5.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating operational and research support activities, including stock management, inventory monitoring and facilities-related administration.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding maintenance, cleaning, safety, facilities and contractor work requests.
- Supporting School governance activities, including acting as Secretariat for the School Research Committee through the preparation of agendas, papers, minutes and meeting coordination.
- Coordinating seminar and visitor programs, including travel, accommodation, venue bookings, visitor inductions, catering and hospitality arrangements.
- Assisting with onboarding and induction activities for new staff, HDR candidates, Honours students and visitors.
- Supporting financial administration activities, including reconciliation of School operating expenses.
- Maintaining School email distribution lists and local webpages.
- Contributing to a safe, compliant and welcoming environment aligned with University policies and procedures.
About You
Completion of a degree, or a diploma-level qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrated administrative experience supporting operational, governance or research-related activities.
Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
High attention to detail,
accuracy and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement and adaptability when responding to new or non-routine situations.
A collaborative approach and the ability to contribute positively within a small, high-performing and supportive team.
Experience using University systems such as Archibus and Unifi will be highly regarded.
