About the Role
We are seeking a Production/Warehouse Assistant to join our team at Makin Mattresses in Canberra. This is a full-time position based at our facility in Canberra ACT 2600. In this role, you will be a vital part of our production and warehouse operations, supporting the assembly and processing of our mattress products. You will work alongside our experienced team to ensure efficient operations, maintain high quality standards, and contribute to the smooth running of our manufacturing facility. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills in a manufacturing environment whilst being part of a dynamic and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the assembly and production of mattresses, including preparation of components and materials
- Support warehouse operations including receiving, storing, and organising inventory in an efficient manner
- Perform quality checks on products throughout the production process to ensure they meet our high standards
- Operate basic machinery and equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures and safety guidelines
- Assist with packaging and preparing finished products for dispatch to customers
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Support the logistics team with order fulfillment and shipment preparation
- Respond to operational needs and support team members as required to meet production targets
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, warehouse or production environments is desirable
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and operating equipment
- Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks within the production and warehouse environment
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards work
- Working knowledge of health and safety practices in a manufacturing setting
- Flexibility to work in a rapid-paced production environment
