REFOCUS is seeking a Kinship AssessmentPractitioner (Equipping Kin) to join our team and support prospectivekinship carers through assessment, preparation, and approval processes.

This role works within the Equipping Kin service andplays a vital role in ensuring children and young people requiring out-of-homecare are placed with safe, stable, and nurturing kinship carers. The positionworks collaboratively with Child Safety, Connecting Kin Practitioners , andinternal teams to support timely assessments and successful transitions intoongoing support services.

About the role

As a Kinship Assessment Practitioner , you will:





- Undertakecomprehensive assessments of prospective kinship carers
- Conductassessment interviews using approved assessment frameworks
- Completehousehold safety assessments and provide guidance on safety requirements
- Prepareprospective carers for their statutory caring responsibilities
- Deliverorientation and education regarding legislation, policies, and practiceexpectations
- Supportcarers to understand trauma-informed care, attachment, and childdevelopment
- Preparehigh-quality, evidence-based assessment reports
- Makeprofessional recommendations regarding kinship carer approval
- Workcollaboratively with Child Safety Officers and community stakeholders
- Promoteculturally safe, child-centred practice and the Aboriginal and TorresStrait Islander Child Placement Principle
- Maintainaccurate case records and ensure compliance with legislative andorganisational requirements

Strong assessment skills, professional judgement, culturalcapability, and a commitment to child safety are essential to this role.

Pay and conditions

Hourly pay rates range from:

Level 1 PPT3 $30.90 per hour, up to Level 3 PPT4 $52.93 perhour

Classification level and pay rate are assessed anddetermined based on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capability.

Qualifications and experience

- Qualificationin Social Work, Human Services, Behavioural Science, Community Services,or a related discipline
- Experienceundertaking assessments within child protection, out-of-home care, orrelated human services
- Demonstratedreport-writing and assessment skills
- Knowledgeof child development, attachment, and trauma-informed practice
- Experienceundertaking kinship or foster carer assessments will be highly regarded
- Experienceworking with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and familiesis highly desirable
