Casual Disability Support Worker

About the Role

This is a diverse and rewarding position that is not solely based within our Supported Independent Living (SIL) home . Successful applicants must be available to work across both our SIL home in Clyde and provide in-home and community supports throughout Melbourne and surrounding suburbs .

You will be supporting participants with a broad range of needs, including personal care, complex supports, community participation, independent living skills and behaviour support, while promoting dignity, choice and independence.

Location: Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Clyde and participants' homes across Melbourne and surrounding suburbs.

Start Date: Immediate.

Key Responsibilities

As a Disability Support Worker, your duties may include:

- Delivering high-quality, person-centred support tailored to each participant's goals and individual needs.

- Providing personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, continence care,



oral hygiene and personal presentation.

- Administering or assisting with medication in accordance with participant support plans.

- Supporting participants with complex care needs and high‑intensity supports (where trained and competent).

- Supporting participants who display behaviours of concern using Positive Behaviour Support strategies and Behaviour Support Plans.

- Performing safe manual handling, transfers and mobility assistance using hoists, wheelchairs and other mobility equipment.

- Providing PEG/PEJ feeding and other specialised supports where appropriately trained.

- Assisting with meal planning, meal preparation, feeding assistance and promoting healthy nutrition.

- Supporting participants with household tasks including cleaning, laundry and maintaining a safe, hygienic home environment.

- Assisting participants with community access, appointments, education, employment, recreational activities and social participation.

- Providing participant transport using your own reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle where required.

- Supporting participants with life administration, including appointments, paperwork, correspondence and everyday organisational tasks.

- Developing and maintaining visual schedules, communication aids, daily routines and planning tools.

- Supporting participants through significant life events and transitions, including moving into SIL, changing accommodation, commencing employment or education, holidays and other important milestones.

- Building participants' independent living skills, including budgeting, shopping, cooking, household management,



time management and decision‑making.

- Encouraging participants to achieve their NDIS goals while promoting confidence, independence and community inclusion.

- Liaising professionally with families, guardians, Support Coordinators, allied health professionals and other stakeholders.

- Completing accurate shift notes, progress notes, medication records and incident reports before the conclusion of each shift.

- Maintaining participant dignity, privacy, rights and confidentiality at all times.

- Working independently and collaboratively within a supportive team environment.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

- Minimum 1 year of disability support experience .

- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), Certificate IV in Disability, or higher (mandatory).

- Current Victorian Driver Licence .

- Reliable, registered and comprehensively insured vehicle.

- Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates.

- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check .

- Current National Police Check .

- Valid Australian working rights.

- Availability to work a 24/7 rotating roster , including mornings, afternoons, evenings, sleepovers, weekends and public holidays.

- The ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and adapt to a variety of participant needs and support environments.

- A genuine passion for providing respectful, person-centred care.
