We are seeking an experienced Underground Team Leader / Lead Drainer to join our growing business.
This is a leadership position for someone who wants more than just operating machinery. We are looking for a motivated individual to take ownership of our underground division, leading a team and ensuring every project is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

About the Role
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our underground team across residential developments, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard.
This is a hands-on role where you will lead by example while taking responsibility for quality, planning and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the underground drainage team.
- Read and interpret engineering, hydraulic and drainage plans.
- Mark out drainage and ensure installations are completed accurately.
- Complete slab checks and final quality inspections before concrete pours.
- Operate excavators and HR trucks as required.
- Install residential sewer and stormwater drainage systems.
- Supervise and mentor apprentices and team members.
- Liaise with builders, supervisors and office staff to coordinate works.
- Plan daily workloads and ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Identify and resolve site issues before they impact construction.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and productivity.
- Ensure all work complies with Australian Standards and company procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Extensive experience in residential sewer and stormwater drainage.
- Current HR Truck Licence.
- Competent excavator operator.
- White Card.
- Ability to confidently read and interpret plans.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Reliable, self-motivated and professional.
Desirable
- Registered Drainer.
- Experience leading a drainage crew.
- Experience with residential housing developments.
- Ability to train and mentor apprentices.
- Machine tickets or relevant VOCs.
