About the Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer , you will play a key role in the design and development of our next-generation agricultural robotics platform. You will lead the design of mechanical systems from concept through commercial deployment, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across Australia, the United States, and China.

This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex mechanical challenges, developing innovative products, and seeing designs move quickly from prototype to production.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop mechanical systems, assemblies, and components for agricultural robotic equipment.

- Create detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks.





- Design sheet metal, machined, welded, fabricated, and precision mechanical assemblies.

- Lead mechanical design activities throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept through production.

- Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis, and engineering validation.

- Optimise designs for manufacturability (DFM), assembly (DFA), reliability, serviceability, and cost.

- Collaborate closely with electrical, software, controls, manufacturing, and field engineering teams.

- Support prototype builds, field testing, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.

- Work directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support fabrication and production.

- Participate in design reviews and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).

- Provide technical guidance during product deployment and customer trials.

Qualifications

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

- 5+ years of mechanical design experience in robotics, automation equipment, industrial machinery, agricultural equipment, or related industries.

- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.

- Strong experience designing sheet metal, machined parts, welded structures, motion systems, and mechanical assemblies.

- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, GD&T;, materials selection, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturing processes.

- Experience taking products from concept through prototype, testing, and production.

- Solid analytical,



troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Australian working rights and the ability to obtain visas for international business travel when required.

Preferred

- Experience developing robotics, autonomous systems, mobile equipment, or agricultural machinery.

- Ability to communicate in both English and Mandarin is highly preferred to support collaboration with our China and US engineering team.

- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

- Experience with PDM/PLM systems.

- Knowledge of motion control and electromechanical integration.

- Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams.

Travel Requirements

- Occasional travel within Australia to customer sites and field trials.

- International travel to China and the United States (approximately 10–20%) for engineering collaboration, product development, manufacturing support, field testing, training, and team meetings.
