You've built your career in the surface extraction industry - now it's time to help build its future. This is an opportunity to share your expertise as a Teacher - Surface Extraction (Sand and/or Quarry Operations) , supporting the development of a skilled, safe and job-ready workforce for one of Australia's most essential industries.

At Box Hill Institute, we're seeking experienced professionals from the surface extraction industry who are ready to bring their real-world expertise into vocational education! You'll play a key role in developing future industry talent, embedding strong safety practices, and delivering training that reflects current industry and regulatory requirements

Casual opportunities available. Salary range aligns to the current MEA: L1 - L3 $91.42 - $98.77 per hour (dependent on qualifications & experience).

This role involves delivery across Box Hill Institute campuses, requiring flexibility to work across multiple campuses as needed.

What you'll do

- Deliver and assess training across Cert III, IV and Diploma in Surface Extraction.
- Bring quarry operations to life through real-world examples and industry insights.
- Embed contemporary quarrying practices, strong safety standards and current industry requirements into training.
- Support student progress, engagement and job readiness.
- Ensure training meets compliance, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with industry and teaching teams to keep programs relevant and aligned to workforce needs.

Qualifications/Requirements

- Qualification in Surface Extraction (Cert III, Cert IV and/or Diploma) (Essential/Highly Regarded).
- Current or recent experience within the extractive industries sector (Essential/Highly Regarded).
- Experience in sand quarry and/or hard rock quarry operations (Highly Regarded).
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) or willingness to obtain
- Experience in training, coaching or mentoring apprentices, teams or staff (Desirable).
- Supervisory, management or leadership experience within the extractive industries sector (Desirable).
