Halliwell is seeking an experienced Building Code Consultant to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of projects, providing expert advice on building compliance, regulatory approvals, and National Construction Code (NCC) requirements.

About the Role
Reporting to a Senior Building Code Consultant / Building Surveyor, you will assess building designs and permit applications, provide regulatory and technical advice, and manage compliance assessment projects across a range of building classifications and sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess building designs and documentation for compliance with the NCC, Building Regulations and relevant Australian Standards.
- Review and determine building permit applications and approval documentation.
- Provide technical and regulatory advice to developers, architects, builders, engineers and other stakeholders.
- Manage building approval and compliance projects from commencement through to determination.
- Prepare technical reports, assessments, approvals and professional correspondence.
- Liaise with government authorities, fire authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Review performance solutions and alternative compliance pathways.
- Maintain compliance records and statutory documentation.
- Support junior team members and contribute to the development of technical knowledge across the team.
- Stay current with legislative changes and industry best practice.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Building, or a related discipline.
- Experience in building surveying, building compliance, code consulting or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of the National Construction Code, Building Acts, Regulations and Australian Standards.
- An understanding of performance-based design and alternative solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A client-focused approach with proven stakeholder management capability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Current Building Surveyor registration (preferred but not essential).
