Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Respiratory and Sleep Physician to join our dynamic and rapidly growing team at one of the busiest and most comprehensive respiratory and sleep centres in the Hunter region.You will be joining a collaborative group of six experienced physicians, supported by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.
The successful clinician will work collaboratively within a team, provide patient‑centred education and support, contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement activities, and maintain high professional standards through ongoing training and development
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist assessment and management of respiratory conditions such as asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis, pulmonary hypertension, and respiratory failure.
- Diagnose and treat sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnoea, insomnia, narcolepsy, parasomnias, circadian rhythm disorders, and sleep‑related hypoventilation.
- Interpret complex investigations including polysomnography, MSLT/MWT, spirometry,
lung function testing,and imaging
- Oversee CPAP including initiation, optimisation, troubleshooting, and long‑term follow‑up.
- Provide consultations in chronic disease management.
- Collaborate with sleep technicians, respiratory scientists, GPs, allied health, and other specialists to deliver integrated, high‑quality care.
- Engage in patient education, shared decision‑making, and culturally protected communication.
- Participate in teaching, supervision, and professional development activities.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of respiratory and sleep medicine through ongoing CPD and evidence‑based practice.
Requirements
- - Fellowshipof the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP)
- Currentregistration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency(AHPRA).
- Demonstratedexperience in respiratory and sleep medicine
- Demonstratedclinical governance, quality improvement, and adherence to safety andaccreditation standards.
