What you’ll do

- Design, implement, and optimize user interfaces for embedded systems, focusing on performance and user experience.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and refine UI requirements and specifications.
- Develop and maintain code for embedded applications using C/C++ and other relevant programming languages.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to ensure high-quality code and adherence to best practices.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues related to UI performance and functionality, ensuring a smooth user experience across various devices.




- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in UI development and embedded systems to continuously improve our products.
- Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure timely delivery of features.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, processes, and user interfaces to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding.
- Work closely with QA teams to develop and execute testing strategies, ensuring that all UI components meet quality standards before deployment.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Engage in cross-team collaborations to align on product vision and technical direction, contributing to the overall success of Roku's offerings.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and tools, promoting efficiency and innovation within the team.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, with a focus on embedded systems or UI development.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages, with a strong understanding of software design principles and best practices.




- Experience with UI frameworks and libraries relevant to embedded systems, such as Qt or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

- Experience with other programming languages such as Python or JavaScript.
- Knowledge of streaming technologies and protocols, particularly in the context of media applications.
- Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
- Previous experience in the consumer electronics or entertainment industry is a plus.
- Understanding of user-centered design principles and experience working with UX/UI designers.
