An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced WHS Advisor to join a leading Queensland Government organisation in Townsville. This role will support the delivery of workplace health, safety and environmental initiatives across a diverse portfolio of construction and maintenance projects.

This position is ideal for a safety professional who is passionate about fostering secure workplaces, enjoys working collaboratively with operational teams, and has strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct WHS&E; site audits and inspections to ensure compliance across both internally delivered and contractor-delivered works.
- Provide expert WHS&E; advice and guidance to operational, supervisory and management staff regarding Safety Management System (SMS) requirements and legislative compliance.
- Assist with the development and delivery of WHS&E; education, training and information sessions.
- Support the reporting and investigation of workplace incidents and contractor notifiable incidents.
- Assist with rehabilitation and return-to-work programs under the guidance of senior WHS personnel.
- Coordinate and support emergency planning and response activities for offices and depots.
- Assist in the development, review and implementation of:
- Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
- Risk Assessments
- WHS Management Plans

- Contribute to regular WHS&E; reporting and safety performance monitoring.
- Support the delivery of health and safety programs that meet operational and stakeholder needs.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Previous experience in a WHS Advisor, Safety Advisor or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, compliance requirements and safety management systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong administrative and reporting capabilities.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to work independently while supporting multiple operational teams.
- Flexibility to travel, including occasional short-notice visits to regional and remote depots.

Mandatory Requirements

- Current Driver Licence.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).
