THE ROLE
Reporting to the CFO, the primary purpose of the Financial Controller position is to manage all of the accounting and control functions for the group.
Specifically, this includes:
- Accounting:
- Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support operational requirements. Monitor cash positions, oversee cash forecasting, and implement strategies to optimize cash utilization.
- Financial and Statutory Reporting: Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Conduct periodic audits to assess control effectiveness.
- Performance management
- Cost Analysis and Control: Implement robust cost control measures and conduct ongoing analysis to identify areas of cost optimization and efficiency improvement.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks by assessing market conditions, industry trends, and internal factors. Develop risk management strategies and implement appropriate controls to protect the company's financial interests.
- Systems and processes
- Systems: Improve the efficiency of our internal systems by better using current functionalities and implementing new opportunities for automation.
- Process transformation: Improve the efficiencies of current cross functional processes. Develop a best-practice approach that combines both controls and commercial outcomes.
- Leadership
- Team management: Manage the AP/AR team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture within the department.
- Stakeholder management: Influence the wider business to improve controls and develop opportunities to improve business performance. Take ownership of the external finance stakeholders: Bank, Auditors, Tax, IT, etc.
ABOUT YOU
This pivotal role, based in Carrum Downs is best suited to a CPA or CA qualified finance professional looking to expand their existing FC experience in a growing, agile FMCG business.
Your previous people management experience will assist you in helping to build capability within the finance function and grow the team in the new era.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably within FMCG.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting standards.
- Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Experience with ERP systems (Business Central knowledge desirable) and advanced proficiency in financial software applications, ideally with an interest in new technologies and automation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
- High level of integrity, ethics, and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong problem solver, willing to leverage the team to drive systems and process improvement
- A creative thinker; can apply their financial modelling and reporting skills to a wide variety of business environments.
- Advanced Excel skills
