About the Role
The Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Planning Lead is responsible for building a skilled, engaged and sustainable nursing and midwifery workforce equipped to meet Barwon Health's operational demands now and into the future. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, you will lead retention strategy, workforce reporting, regulatory compliance and quality assurance, and leadership capability initiatives across the organisation. You will find the Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Unit to be a collaborative and forward-thinking team, with support given for professional development and ongoing learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and refine retention strategies in partnership with internal stakeholders to build a skilled and engaged workforce.
- Analyse workforce trends and data to identify key factors influencing retention and inform targeted initiatives.
- Compile and analyse nursing and midwifery workforce data to produce accurate, insightful reporting that aligns workforce planning with organisational strategy.
- Oversee workforce compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide oversight of quality assurance functions relating to the nursing and midwifery workforce, including audits, risk monitoring, and rostering compliance.
- Partner with Organisational Development and Nursing Education and Training to foster continuous learning and strengthen leadership capability across the workforce.
- Contribute to workplace engagement and inclusion initiatives that support a vibrant, positive workplace culture.
What we are looking for
You are a strategic and analytical qualified with a strong understanding of the nursing and midwifery workforce, who thrives on translating data and insight into meaningful workforce outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in workforce planning, reporting, or data analysis within a healthcare setting.
- Sound understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to the nursing and midwifery workforce.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively across a multidisciplinary organisation.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
