Are you ready to start your next adventure in a role with real impact? We are currently on the hunt for an experienced Data Platform Engineering Lead to join our Data Evidence & Impact Services Directorate and help shape the future of SEMPHN’s enterprise data capability.

What You’ll Do

As the Data Platform Engineering Lead , you will provide technical leadership for SEMPHN’s data engineering capability and lead the ongoing development, operation and continuous improvement of DataBRIDGE, our enterprise data platform.

You will:

- Lead the design, development and optimisation of enterprise data pipelines, data models and cloud-based data services using technologies including Azure, Databricks and dbt.
- Take technical ownership of DataBRIDGE, ensuring the platform remains secure, reliable, scalable and fit for purpose.
- Translate platform strategy and roadmap priorities into practical engineering solutions, delivery plans and production outcomes.
- Establish and maintain data engineering standards, architecture patterns, coding practices and quality controls.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, platform optimisation, modern engineering practices and knowledge sharing.




- Implement monitoring, observability and alerting practices to support platform performance, reliability and resilience.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and guidance to the Data Engineering team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, Primary Health Insight, other PHNs and external partners to deliver trusted and reusable data products.
- Support strong data governance practices, including security, documentation, data quality and access controls.

About You

You are an experienced data engineering professional who enjoys solving complex problems, building scalable solutions and leading technical delivery.

You will bring:

- A bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, data/information management, mathematics or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on experience in data engineering, with experience working with Azure and Databricks.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining data architectures, dimensional data models and data marts.
- Robust development experience with Python, PySpark, SQL and dbt for data transformation and pipeline development.
- Experience with Git workflows, pull request governance and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of data governance, cataloguing and access control practices, including Databricks Unity Catalog.




- Experience implementing data monitoring, observability and automated alerting solutions.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code approaches such as Terraform, ARM or Bicep.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for a range of audiences.
- A collaborative approach with the ability to build effective relationships across technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience working within the health sector, population health or a similar data-driven environment will be highly regarded.
