Executive Dean, Faculty of Engineering

We are seeking an accomplished leader and scholar for the position of Executive Dean, Faculty of Engineering.

The Executive Dean is a key member of QUT’s Executive Leadership Team, responsible for providing strategic, academic and operational leadership for the Faculty of Engineering.

Our university is one of Australia’s leading institutions and this role presents an opportunity for the successful applicant to lead the Faculty into the future by building on its robust reputation as a local, national and international leader, with a focus on quality, impact and industry connections.

What you need to succeed

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

- A PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline with a strong record of providing visionary and strategic leadership and demonstrated outcomes.

- An internationally recognised record of research, scholarship and/or significant senior management experience.

- Proven capacity for strategic leadership at a senior management level that includes developing, leading and executing strategy in the higher education environment. Demonstrated success in talent management and shaping organisational culture, driving research outcomes, teaching and leadership performance and industry and community connections are required.

- Lead, develop and engage a high-performing workforce demonstrating a genuine commitment to innovative practices and fostering new opportunities.





- Exceptional communication skills demonstrated through external stakeholder relations, contributing collegially to the senior leadership of the university and ability to work collaboratively across faculties and portfolios.

- Excellent business acumen, the capacity to manage a large budget and an understanding of the importance of professional functions including student services.

- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
