The Unaccredited Trainee in General Medicine is responsible for providing safe and high‑quality care to medical patients under supervision. The trainee must work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, comply with specialist care plans, and progressively develop independent patient management skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high‑quality care to medical patients in a supervised clinical environment.
- Assess and manage patients under the guidance of an Attending Medical Officer (AMO).
- Communicate clearly with specialist physicians and other team members regarding patient care plans.
- Participate in team discussions and collaborative decision‑making.
- Maintain professional judgment and adhere to institutional policies and guidelines.
- Document patient care activities accurately and promptly.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives and patient safety activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent; current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Completion of at least two postgraduate years of medical practice (PGY3+ at commencement).
- Valid, unrestricted drivers’ licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel.
- Proven ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and share information appropriate to the audience.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads in a demanding, unpredictable setting.
- Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Willingness to participate in training and development opportunities in Adult Internal Medicine.
