Diesel Motor Mechanic DNA Recruitment are partnering with a Council in the South of Melbourne to recruit for a Diesel Motor Mechanic. We are seeking a suitably qualified diesel mechanic who will assist in the maintenance servicing and repairs of motor vehicles, mobile plant and mechanical equipment used by a local council. WHAT WE OFFER Opportunities to get a foot in the door within local government

- Ensure Council vehicles, plant and light equipment is maintained and serviced in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and RWC standards. Carry out repairs and maintenance activities in a timely and efficient manner and participate in a breakdown emergency callout service (as required).
- Provide advice on plant maintenance issues within area of responsibility when requested, actively participating, and contributing to team discussions to improve and develop systems and team processes. Carry out fabrication work as required,



as well as supervising apprentices and work experience students when working with them.
- Order spare parts for fleet, plant, and light equipment in accordance with Council’s procurement policy as required.
- Maintain work procedures as required, reporting all hazards, near misses and incidents using the corporate OH&S; systems.

About you Thorough understanding of the relevant technology, procedures and processes used within the operating unit to ensure Council vehicles, plant and light equipment is maintained and serviced in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and RWC standards

- Trade Certificate (3 or 4) preferably in Diesel Mechanics (Heavy Stream)
- Computer and diagnostic skills for all aspects of vehicle, plant, and light equipment maintenance activities.
- Experience in welding and hydraulic servicing.
- Experience in the maintenance of small plant such as but not limited to chainsaws, mowers, brushcutters etc.
- Demonstrated experience working in a workshop workplace dealing with diesel and petrol engine vehicles, plant, or light equipment.

Ability to work diligently, independently and collaboratively in a team environment Strong understanding of safety procedures and site protocols

WORKING HOURS Can vary Mon to Fri > 7:00am to 3:00pm
