About the Role

As part of our Grounds & Maintenance staff, you will play an key role in ensuring our communities at Officer & Blue Gum always looks its best.

This role goes beyond lawn mowing. We are seeking someone with a practical maintenance background who can identify issues before they become problems and take ownership of maintaining our grounds, gardens, irrigation systems and community facilities.

Every day is different, with responsibilities ranging from maintaining beautiful gardens to undertaking minor building maintenance and repairs around the community.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds Maintenance

- Maintain lawns throughout the community to a consistently high standard.
- Edge, trim and present front lawns and communal open spaces.
- Weed gardens, pathways and landscaped areas.
- Prune shrubs, hedges and small trees.
- Blow and collect leaves and debris.
- Apply herbicides and weed control safely and effectively.
- Monitor plant health and undertake seasonal garden maintenance.
- Maintain mulch, garden beds and landscaped areas.

Irrigation

- Monitor automated irrigation systems.
- Identify faults or water wastage.
- Repair sprinklers, drippers, valves and irrigation components where practical.
- Adjust watering schedules to suit seasonal conditions.
- Report larger irrigation issues requiring specialist contractors.

Maintenance





- Undertake general repairs and maintenance around community facilities.
- Complete minor carpentry, painting and handyman tasks.
- Maintain community buildings, pathways, fencing and outdoor furniture.
- Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance issues.
- Ensure tools, machinery and equipment are cleaned, serviced and maintained.
- Assist contractors working on site where required.

Safety & Compliance

- Identify hazards and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain a safe workplace for residents, visitors and staff.
- Operate equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure chemicals are stored and used safely.
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop and storage areas.

About You

You are someone who enjoys seeing the results of your work and takes pride in maintaining a property to a high standard.

You will ideally possess:

- Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, property maintenance or a similar role.
- Practical handyman or maintenance skills.
- Experience operating commercial mowing and gardening equipment.
- Basic irrigation troubleshooting and repair experience.
- Ability to work independently and manage your daily workload.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused attitude.
- A genuine pride in maintaining attractive outdoor environments.

- Current Australian Driver License.
- White Card (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to perform manual handling and outdoor physical work.
- Ability to work safely with gardening equipment and chemicals.
- Chemical Users Certificate (ACUP) or equivalent.
- Irrigation experience.
- Trade qualification or handyman/building maintenance experience.
- Chainsaw, brushcutter or horticultural qualifications.
