Naira Nepalese and Indian Restaurant is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join its kitchen team on a full-time basis.

About the position

The Cook will assist with the daily preparation, cooking and presentation of food served by the restaurant. The position requires practical commercial-kitchen experience, sound food-safety knowledge and the ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare, season, cook and present menu items in accordance with the restaurant's recipes, quality standards and portion requirements.

- Prepare ingredients and maintain sufficient mise en place for scheduled lunch and dinner services.

- Cook menu items using grills, fryers, ovens, stovetops and other commercial kitchen equipment.

- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is prepared safely and consistently.

- Check the quality of ingredients and finished dishes before service.

- Maintain appropriate food storage, labelling, stock rotation and FIFO procedures.

- Maintain a clean, hygienic and organised kitchen work area.





- Monitor ingredient and stock levels and report shortages to the kitchen supervisor or manager.

- Assist with stock control, inventory checks and the reduction of food wastage.

- Work cooperatively with chefs, cooks and other kitchen staff during preparation and service.

- Comply with applicable food-safety, workplace-health-and-safety and hygiene requirements.

- Assist with menu improvements and daily specials where required.

Mandatory requirements

- At least one year of relevant employment experience as a Cook in a café, restaurant or commercial kitchen.

- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and food-preparation methods.

- Ability to work effectively under pressure during busy service periods.

- Ability to maintain consistent food quality, portioning and presentation.

- Good communication, time-management and teamwork skills.

- Availability to work a full-time roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays where required.

Desirable

- Relevant commercial cookery qualification.

- Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain one.

- Experience preparing Nepalese or Indian cuisine.

- Employment type: Full-time

- Location: Armidale NSW 2350

- Ordinary hours: 38 hours per week

- Salary: $80,000 plus superannuation
