ABC Towing Services is a leading provider of towing, transport and roadside assistance services throughout Townsville and surrounding areas. We are seeking a mechanically minded, reliable and customer-focused Roadside Assistance Patrolperson to join our team.

This is a varied, hands-on position where no two days are the same. You will assist customers experiencing vehicle breakdowns and roadside emergencies, often at times when they may be stressed or uncertain.

The successful applicant must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate calmly, professionally and respectfully with customers from all backgrounds.

About the role

As a Roadside Assistance Patrolperson, you will respond to roadside assistance jobs throughout Townsville and surrounding areas.

Your duties will include:

- Diagnosing basic mechanical and electrical faults
- Battery testing and replacement
- Jump-starting vehicles
- Changing flat tyres
- Carrying out minor roadside repairs where safe and practical
- Assisting customers who have locked their keys inside their vehicle
- Providing emergency fuel assistance
- Identifying when a vehicle requires towing or further mechanical repairs
- Recording accurate job information and photographs using mobile technology
- Communicating with customers, office staff and other team members
- Maintaining the roadside assistance vehicle and equipment
- Working independently while meeting company safety and service standards
- Participating in a rotating roster, including after-hours, weekends and public holidays
- Meeting required response times, customer service standards and KPIs

About you

You do not need to be a qualified mechanic; however, you must have practical automotive knowledge and be confident working with vehicles.

To be considered for this position,



you must have:

- A current Australian open manual driver licence
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Sound mechanical aptitude and basic fault-finding ability
- The ability to remain calm and professional when assisting stressed or frustrated customers
- Positive computer, smartphone and mobile application skills
- The ability to work independently and make safe, practical decisions
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Reliability, punctuality and a professional work ethic
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, after-hours, weekends and public holidays
- The ability to meet company service standards and KPIs

Previous experience in roadside assistance, automotive services, towing, mechanical work or a similar customer-facing role would be highly regarded.

Applicants may be required to complete a police check and pre-employment medical assessment.
