ABOUT THE ROLE
William Angliss Institute (WAI) is always looking for passionate and industry-current educators who can contribute to our Higher Education teaching team on a casual basis . We prioritise academics and experienced industry professionals committed to inspiring students, facilitating transformative learning experiences, and shaping the future of the foods, tourism, hospitality and events sectors.
WAI casual academics play an essential role in teaching excellence—bringing real-world insight, academic rigor, and a genuine desire to guide the next generation of leaders . We value curiosity, continuous learning, and confidence in navigating the evolving role of AI in education and industry .
Key responsibilities
- Design, update and deliver engaging learning experiences across your specialist field
- Facilitate inspiring classes and support students’ academic and professional development
- Contribute to subject design, constructive alignment and continuous improvement
- Supervise field trips, industry projects and applied learning activities
- Undertake subject coordination responsibilities as required
- Maintain active engagement with industry, research and professional networks
- Participate in peer-review activities and evidence commitment to teaching excellence
- Demonstrate industry currency and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled learning approaches

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Please address each criterion with examples from your academic, professional and/or life experience:
- Postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree or PhD or near completion) in a relevant discipline, or equivalent recognised professional standing
- Candidates supporting practice-focused delivery may be considered based on strong professional leadership and industry achievement.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and support student learning in higher education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with students and colleagues
- Evidence of alignment with WAI Values and commitment to inclusive, safe and ethical learning environments
- Commitment to industry currency, contemporary teaching practice, and the role of AI and emerging technologies in education and industry
